One week!

Well folks it has been quite a week.  Since leaving the hospital last Thursday, I have had a lot going on.

Friday after I woke up my Momma fed me and then we went to the pediatrician for my first visit.  My Daddy and Grandma A went along as well.

The Nurse at the Doctor's office asked Momma and Daddy a lot of questions about their family history and after all of that I got to meet Doctor H for the first time.  He's a very nice guy and spent a lot of time explaining vaccinations and his opinions on them to my parents.  My parents plan on vaccinating me, but they will do so on an alternate schedule.

Doctor H checked me over good and gave me a clean bill of health.  He talked to my parents about some common misconceptions and told them about things they might find and not to be too overly concerned about.

From there we went back home and I got to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa A before they returned to the cold weather in Illinois.  They held me a lot and also helped my Momma clean the house and get things organized.

On Saturday morning my Grandma and Grandpa A started their 11-hour drive back to Illinois.  Although I was really sad for them to leave, I'm sure they will be back to visit me soon.  Later on Saturday my Grandma and Grandpa M arrived to see me.

After Grandma and Grandpa M got settled in we pulled out some baby pictures of my Momma and Daddy.  We were trying to decide who I look like.  For now, it seems as though I look like my Daddy.  I guess that is good, but I think he's hoping I will look more like my Momma.

I was really happy to meet my other set of grandparents.  They both took turns holding me and entertaining me.  My Grandma M used to be a Labor & Delivery Nurse so she has been giving my Momma a lot of useful insight into caring for me.  She has also been helping my Daddy change diapers.
Well it's about time for me to make way towards my bed.  Tomorrow is my Grandma M's birthday so I need to rest for a trip out of the house :)

Home at Last!

Hello again friends!  After a tough night and a another long day in the hospital I finally made it to my new home.

Wednesday night wasn't as bad as the first night with the nurses constantly coming in to check on me.  My stomach was starting to settle from all the fluid I had ingested while living in my temporary quarters.  As such I had a better appetite and started growing accustomed to my new eating process.

I have really grown to like my momma holding me close to her and giving me something to eat.  Then when I'm finished my daddy gives me some pats on the back so I can get all that extra air out of my tummy.  Some times I have those air bubbles coming out of both ends :)  So once I showed all the nurses how well I was eating and filling up my diaper they decided to quit checking my blood sugar every 2 hours.

Once the blood sugar situation was taken care of they checked me for jaundice and that was good to go as well.  I then spent some time with the hospital's pediatrician and he said I was ready to go home.  My mommy and daddy were excited as they were thinking we could go home early, but unfortunately hospital policy is 48 hours from the time of first appearance.  Sooooo needless to say we spent an extra 5 hours watching and waiting.

When the time came to go home, I put on some new clothes and got strapped down in my car seat.  Then momma and I rode the 'taxi' down to the car where daddy was waiting.  We made the short drive and I has finally home.

Once I arrived I got to meet my 4-legged sister Sienna.  She was excited to see me, but not quite sure how to handle the situation.  I'm sure we will be friends very soon.

Anyway, it's about time for me to grab a snack and head to bed.  Talk to all y'all soon!

Hello World!

Howdy y'all! My name is Adelynn Kay and I'm coming to you live from my hospital room in Fayette County GA.

I have been in temporary living for the last 9 months and after outgrowing my previous quarters I decided I needed some place more accommodating. All along I knew this move would be challenging, but I knew my Momma and Daddy had put forth a great deal of time and effort to make sure it went off with out a hitch.

When the time came to make my move, it took me about 18 hours with a lot of hard work from my Momma; supervision from my Daddy; and guidance from Doula Christina.

With only a few final but grueling details to address, I stepped into my new home at 3:22 PM yesterday afternoon. I was warmly greeted by Dr. Cook, Nurse Karen, Doula Christina, and of course my parents.

In order to ensure I would be okay living outside of my temporary home a couple of the nurses ran some tests on me. I showed them I was fine and then went on to surprise everyone in the room when they put me on the scale. I ended up weighing 8.7 lbs (8 lbs 11 ounces) and measuring 20.5 inches in length.

After all of the stress of the move I have been taking it easy the last 24 hours. Most of my time has been spent sleeping with small breaks for nourishment. My Grandma and Grandpa A have come by twice to visit me. Today I got to see Grandma A's new reading glasses; they look great on her.

I'm having trouble sleeping tonight as I'm anxiously awaiting the short drive to my new house. I'll get to meet my four-legged sister Sienna and also see all of the stuff everyone has given me over the past few months. Then on Saturday my Grandpa and Grandma M will be driving to GA from IL to see me.

Well folks I think I've told you enough for now. I'm still very tired. I'm going get a little something to eat and head to bed. I need to rest up for my big day tomorrow!
